CALIFATE, CALIGATION, n. Darkness; dimness; cloudiness. In medical authors, caligation or caligo, is an opakeness or cloudiness of the anterior surface of the crystaline lens, causing dimness of sight; impaired sight from obstruction to the passage of light, or cataract.
